How GrowthTera Came About

We’ve been there!  We ‘ve spent years working within companies, and as advisors. We know how hard it is to achieve alignment and growth.  We have experienced the joys of winning and the feeling of satisfaction when people are committed to working together to make each other, and the customer successful. We’ve also experienced the pain of losing customers because the competition was further ahead of us or we weren’t delivering what customers expected from us.  We’ve felt the frustration that comes from failed initiatives and goals because of misaligned priorities and poor execution. We’ve seen the impact of a culture isn’t focused on the customer.  We’ve witnessed the distrust and lack of engagement that team members feel when roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes are unclear.

We started GrowthTera to leverage our experience to help companies maximize their growth, profit, and impact.  GrowthTera is the combination of growth and Tera, the Greek word meaning 1012 or one trillion.

The name GrowthTera reflects our goal to help clients achieve exponential growth.

Sherri Sklar, Co-founder, and CEO

Sherri is a senior sales, marketing and business development executive with extensive experience in technology, software, and services companies. She has led transformational change and created award-winning revenue and market leadership strategies that helped companies achieve triple-digit growth and successful exit strategies.

Throughout her career, Sherri has won the affection of entire organizations and built trusted-advisor/strategic partner relationships with clients. She has inspired people with her leadership, her ability to hire and develop great talent, build unified, customer-centric cultures and execute initiatives that delivered impressive results.

As CEO of Sherri Sklar Strategies, she helped startups and Fortune 100 organizations grow revenues through her high-performance sales, marketing, and business development strategies, training, sales enablement and customer success work.  Her workshops and seminars reached hundreds of people, teaching them how to expand deal size, shorten sales cycles, build a robust pipeline, and convert stalled opportunities into multimillion dollar closed deals.

As CEO and founder of two cutting-edge energy efficiency firms, she grew the companies to seven digit revenues within the first year.  As VP of Sales, Marketing, and Business Development at ABT, she helped the company grow over 500% in a mature market.  At IBM, she became known for her consistently strong sales results and the turnaround of a business unit achieving record revenue and 60% profit growth.

A certified practitioner of the Adventace High Performance Sales Environment®, Sherri earned a BA from Tulane University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Janine Buis, Co-founder, and Chief Wow! Officer

Janine’s career has focused on building meaningful connections with customers and employees as a marketer, strategist, M&A integration and human resources leader.   She has worked in startups and global corporations aligning strategy, people and execution to drive growth.

At Nokia, Janine brought together diverse teams from around the globe to create one group dedicated to making app developers successful. She helped transform the culture while ensuring that the team was engaged and continued to deliver on business goals.  As the Global Head of M&A Integration, Janine was responsible for the success of M&A integrations ranging from startups to billion-dollar acquisitions. As an internal consultant, she facilitated strategy execution by building a global services organization, and improving decision-making and launch marketing processes. She managed operations and marketing for an enterprise professional services team and was part of a strategy team focused on innovation and identifying new markets, technologies, and business models that would create value for Nokia and its customers.

Janine has launched mobile satellite communications and voice-over-IP solutions that pioneered how we communicate and collaborate. She started her career as a consultant at Deloitte and Arthur Andersen where she partnered with clients to optimize operational execution.

Janine is accredited to use the Team Management Profile (TMP) from TMS Development International Ltd. and is SHRM-SCP certified. She received her HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
